High Performance 10+ Year Anti-Fouling System
|
COPPERCOAT can be successfully applied to virtually all
vessels, irrespective of their size and usage;
COPPERCOAT is ideal for both
commercial and recreational vessels.
While fiberglass vessels built with epoxy or vinyl ester resins don't normally
require epoxy barrier coats, boats built with polyester resin will normally have an epoxy barrier coat, and the
COPPERCOAT can be applied directly to the barrier coat.
Boats constructed of aluminum, wood, steel, and ferro-cement generally require the application of a barrier coat, as do boats recovering from blister repair or other hull damage.
Coppercoat USA offers a barrier coat product called CK426 that contains no VOC's and is a 100% solids epoxy barrier coat that is compatible with our COPPERCOAT resin.
Specifically designed to be user friendly, COPPERCOAT is a solvent-free, non-toxic coating. It should be
mixed thoroughly, one kit at a time, and applied to the prepared surface; usually by roller.
A complete treatment is usually achieved with four thin coats, applied 'wet on tacky' in a single day.
Before you begin to apply COPPERCOAT, we strongly recommend that you thoroughly review and understand the information in the Application Instructions and Do's and Don'ts and watch the application video on this page. You can easily print the instructions and keep them handy for reference as you apply COPPERCOAT.
A COPPERCOAT application is not difficult, but it is very different from applying traditional anti-fouling. In order for the product to work, it must be applied correctly, including proper preparation.
Please don't hesitate to call or e-mail your questions and we'll be happy to give advice about proper application when you contact us or place your order.
After you have applied COPPERCOAT it is necessary to lightly sand it to expose the copper to allow it to function as an anti-fouling coating. Look at the sanding sample for guidance on how much sanding is necessary.
